One thing I wasn't prepared for before coming here was the intensity of the exams. Over the next two weeks, I will have four exams, including three home assignments and one oral exam. There isn't much I can do to prepare for the exam besides going through the class content and notes.

This past week, I did a cafe crawl. Essentially, it involves studying at multiple cafes throughout the day. For example, on Monday, I went to two different cafes near where I live. Switching locations helped keep me focused and energized. While I usually save money by studying at home or in the library, it gets pretty dull staring at the same wall every day. Cafe crawling not only helped me stay productive, but also gave each day a sense of purpose. There is something so special about changing scenery—people watching, inaudible chatter, and occasionally getting myself a pick-me-upper—that makes studying more enjoyable.

What surprised me the most, was how this little thing exposed me to new areas of the city. Each cafe had it's own charm—some were cozy and quiet, others were for socializing. I even ended up chatting with students from other universities and locals (asking for their food recommendations).

In a weird way, this exam season has become an excuse to explore more, meet new people, and romanticize the grind (just a little). Who knew studying could be so fun?

Going over exam for Retail Marketing

Here are a few of my favorite spots:

  • Mokkariet | Jagtvej 72, 2200 Nørrebro |

    • wide variety of brunch options.

    • only downside is that there aren't enough power outlets.

  • Waynes | Nørrebrogade 230, 2200 København |

    • It is a Swedish chain, so this is their only location in Denmark.

    • They have free WiFi and comfortable seating area.

    • Rush hour is in the morning, so recommend coming after 12pm.

  • Dzidra | Baldersgade 8, 2200 København |

    • food is unreal, I LOVE their brunch options

    • Lots of spaces to study, music is a vibe too

Tips for cafe crawling

  • Bring headphones: some places can get loud and be distracting

  • Order something small at each cafe.

    • ex) pastry, drink, lunch, snack

  • Bring the essentials: computer, charger, water bottle

  • Recommend walking the distances in between
