Did we ruin the boys trip?

Mia and I decided to hop on the boy's plan and take a weekend trip to Bulgaria. However things didn't go as planned.

We found out the boys were heading to Sofia, Bulgaria for a weekend trip. We saw how cheap everything was and decided to check this country off the list. Of course, we had our own plans and the only time we agreed to meet the boys was for lunch and dinner.

On our way to Bulgaria, I sat next to this Swedish guy. We talked about the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and how he uses it for his business. It is always so nice to meet people. We arrived around dinner time and were starving so we took the metro to the city. One of the things I am starting to do is ranking the metros in different countries and already I feel Copenhagen has an amazing metro system. The ride was quite rocky and all you hear is screeching sounds.

After eating, we walked around the city. I fear we may have spent all of our time here at the cathedral. It is absolutely stunning and just hits different at night time. We finally made our way to our hostel. Not gonna lie, we were in the middle of the slums. The buildings around us were all broken down and the area was sketchy. Good thing for group travels. The hostel we stayed at was green and yellow themed.

Our first full day in Bulgaria. However, I started feeling sick and it just made my whole day worse. I was congested and the environment was not the best either. One thing to note is that in Bulgaria, they smoke a lot of cigarettes. Everywhere we went, we were met with the smell of smoke. This in addition to being sick is the worst combo.

Anyways, we had dessert for breakfast and went souvenir shopping. I made it my goal to buy a post card, magnet or keychain from each country I visit. We proceeded to walk around and explore building in Bulgaria. The boys went on a hike.

We all met up for lunch and recapped our days to each other. Before we made our way back to the Cathedral. I think we spent most of our trip there. One thing to note is we only booked the hostel for one night, so that meant we had to pull an all-nighter at the airport. Mind you, I am sick and got 6 hours of sleep the night before.

We ended up staying at the cathedral until 10:30 pm and headed to the airport because the metro systems close at 11 pm. The airport was packed because the security checkpoint doesn't open until 5 am the following morning. We found a spot and started to camp out. We had 6 hours to spare until we had to go, it didn't help that our phones were dying and our portables were almost out as well. (TIP: bring portable chargers). Plus sleeping on the floor was not in the plan. I was dying. I had the hardest time breathing so I couldn't get sleep.

I feel like Bulgaria was out of the ordinary. I am glad I went, but probably won't be going again. There's a life lesson in this experience-- You won't know until you try. And once you try, then you can decide whether it's for you or not.
